Plant Dyeing & Cyanotype

Join us for a creative afternoon on the land as we explore the basics of two beautiful ways of making art with plants: natural plant dyeing and cyanotype printing.

Plant dyeing is the process of using color extracted from plants—such as flowers, leaves, roots, bark, and other natural materials—to dye fabric. We’ll explore a simple introductory technique for creating natural color and organic patterns on cloth.

Cyanotype is a sun-printing process that uses sunlight to create deep-blue images. By arranging leaves, flowers, and other botanical materials on specially prepared fabric or paper, we can capture their shapes and details as beautiful botanical impressions.

This beginner-friendly gathering invites us to slow down, notice the beauty and medicine around us, and create in relationship with the plants and the land. No previous experience is needed, and all materials will be provided. You’ll leave with your own handmade plant-dyed and cyanotype pieces.
